Let's learn more about

The Montessori method

As soon as you enter a montessori hall, you know that something different is happening. Montessori environments are immediately recognizable. You will see children working independently and in groups, often with specially designed learning materials; deeply committed to their work, respectful of themselves and their environment. The Montessori Method encourages the rigorous and self-motivated growth of children and adolescents in all areas of their development: cognitive, social, emotional and physical.

Children's community

During the first three years of life, a child's brain absorbs more information from the environment than in any other part of its life. Every sight, sound, touch, taste and smell is assimilated and processed. It is an amazing and wonderful period in the life of a tiny and complete human being.

Childrens House

Montessori believed that in the age of the absorbing mind (birth to age 6), the joy of learning is more evident and effortless than perhaps at any other stage of life. Through natural curiosity, the child absorbs information, assimilates it with his senses and builds his own knowledge.

In this stage exploration, creativity and independent learning are maximized. The child's world is full of movement, and we set the scene with beautiful materials and ample opportunities to connect with nature.

In a Montessori Environment you'll find that...

Each child is valued as a unique individual.

Montessori education recognizes that children learn in different ways and accommodates all learning styles. Students are free to learn at their own pace, each advancing as they are ready, guided by the teacher and an individualized learning plan.

Students are supported to become active seekers of knowledge.

Teachers provide environments where students have the freedom and tools to seek answers to their own questions. Inner satisfaction fuels the child's curiosity and interest and results in joyful learning that is sustainable throughout life.

THEY ARE PART OF A COMMUNITY.

The multi-age classroom, which usually lasts 3 years, recreates a family structure. Older students enjoy stature as mentors and role models; Younger children feel supported and gain confidence in the challenges ahead. Teachers model respect, loving-kindness, and peaceful conflict resolution.

THEY ENJOY FREEDOM WITHIN CERTAIN LIMITS.

Working within the parameters set by their teachers and the classroom community, students are active participants in deciding what their approach to learning will be.

ORDER, CONCENTRATION AND INDEPENDENCE ARE PROMOTED.

Intentional classroom design, materials, and daily routines support the student’s emerging “self-regulation” (the ability to educate himself and think about what he is learning), from young children to adolescents.

MONTESSORI SUPPORTS SOCIO-EMOTIONAL SKILLS

Contemporary research supports that children learning in Montessori classrooms demonstrate strong social-emotional skills in many areas than children in more traditional settings.

The Montessori environment

The best material is one that invites the child to exploration.

A free-flowing Montessori environment

Montessori in movement.

The child's world is full of movement, and we set the scene with beautiful materials that facilitate growth and promote peace while keeping up with the busy and active bodies and brains of young children.

Inside and outside

A single environment.

Many Montessori schools have two prepared environments; one that is indoors and one that is outdoors. There are scheduled times to be in each setting, and the 3-hour morning work cycle occurs primarily indoors. At Montessori, however, we think of both environments as two components of the same environment.

Balance between work and play

Active work outdoors.

We know the importance of being outdoors in communion with nature. Montessori knew that children were fascinated by nature and encourages us to bring children to experience it as often as possible so that they can enjoy and delight in the world around them.

Natural learning

We are guided by the sensitive periods of the child to provide the best education at their own level. When the sensitive period arrives, it is time to take advantage of it and allow the child through repetition to achieve her goals.
